01 / KEEP YOUR TIMETABLE
Backups and changing phones
Jaunty has three ways to keep or move your timetable. They do different jobs.
- iCloud sync
- Keeps your timetable in your private iCloud database when you turn on Sync with iCloud in Jaunty Settings.
- Jaunty iCloud backup
- Saves an encrypted copy in your private iCloud Drive storage. Recovery also needs its matching key from iCloud Passwords & Keychain.
- Local backup file
- Export JSON… saves a readable copy to a place you choose. Keep it private: the file includes your timetable, notes, saved locations, and settings.
Moving to a new iPhone
- Settings → Data and backup → Export backup
- Settings → Data and backup → Restore backup
- If semester dates overlap or are missing, resolve the dates in Semesters. Preview a backup before restoring it; the restore merges retained records.
- Open Restore backup in Data and backup, choose a file or an available iCloud backup, then check the school, semester and class summary before confirming. Keep the old phone until you have checked the restored timetable and system permissions.
How restore works. A backup adds missing records and updates matching ones. It can also update saved preferences. It does not restore iOS permissions. Jaunty support cannot retrieve a copy of your timetable from a Jaunty server.
Settings → Data and backup → Restore backup
02 / WHAT YOU NEED
Device and feature requirements
- Core app
- An iPhone running iOS 17 or later. Manual timetable entry works locally and needs no Jaunty account.
- Languages
- English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, plus the Hong Kong wording option.
- Screenshot import
- On-device text recognition is available without the optional AI model. You can review and correct the draft before saving.
- On-device AI
- Additional AI help requires iOS 26 or later and an available system model. Device support, region, language, settings, and model download can affect availability. Check Apple’s model availability information ↗
- iCloud
- Sync needs an available iCloud account. Automatic Jaunty iCloud backups use iCloud Drive and Passwords & Keychain. Older encrypted backups may instead require their passphrase.
- System features
- Reminders need notification permission. Calendar export and image saving ask for the relevant system access when used. Live Activities depend on iOS settings; Dynamic Island display needs a supported iPhone. See Live Activity update status ↓

Apple Watch
Install the companion app on a paired Apple Watch running watchOS 10 or later. The iPhone app requires iOS 17 or later.
Open Jaunty on the phone, then open the Watch app to receive the timetable. Watch is read-only; edit courses and events on the phone.
When disconnected, the Watch retains the last received schedule. Check its data status before relying on it. Add Jaunty through your watch face’s complication editor.

Keeping and changing semesters
Open Settings → Semesters to create, duplicate, browse or archive a term. Archived terms remain available; Archive is not deletion.
Reminders follow automatic semester dates. Browsing a past or future term does not make that term supply notifications, widgets or Watch data.
If semester dates overlap or are missing, resolve the dates in Semesters. Preview a backup before restoring it; the restore merges retained records.
03 / REVIEWED FOR 1.2.6
Known issues
Fixed in 1.2.6: newly added earlier classes
When Live Activity slots were full, adding an earlier class could leave a later class queued instead. The scheduling fix was checked in the simulator, including after restarting Jaunty.
Under review: delayed class and countdown updates
Earlier versions received reports of an old class or countdown remaining in Live Activities or Dynamic Island. The 1.2.6 scheduling fix does not yet confirm that updates happen on time while the app is in the background.
To check your current timetable, open Day or Week in Jaunty. Reopening the app may not immediately refresh the Live Activity or Dynamic Island.
If this happens in 1.2.6, include your Jaunty version, iOS version, iPhone model, approximate time, and whether the app was open. Hide private timetable details in screenshots.

Suggest an improvement
Feature ideas, wording corrections, and accessibility feedback are welcome. Tell us what you wanted to do, what got in your way, and what change would help. An app version or screenshot can help when your suggestion refers to a particular screen.

When reporting a problem
Tell us what happened, what you expected, and how to repeat it. Include your device model, iOS version, Jaunty version, and the language you use. A screenshot can help when it shows the problem, but please remove private timetable details first. Never send passwords or sign-in codes.
Things to check first
- Import: Review the draft timetable before saving. You can correct a course, time, or room that was read incorrectly.
- iCloud: Check Jaunty Settings → Data and backup and your device's iCloud settings if sync or backup is not working.
- Reminders: Check your reminder options in Jaunty and notification permissions in iOS Settings.
